June 3, 2026 Presidential Search Update

Dear University of Michigan community,

In early May, we resumed the search for the 17th President of the University of Michigan, and we are pleased to provide an update on our progress.

Members of the community are invited to share additional input by completing this brief confidential feedback form.

We are actively recruiting candidates and remain committed to identifying a visionary and dynamic leader who embodies the university’s core values and has a demonstrated record of excellence leading complex organizations. Nominations may be submitted to: [email protected]

The Presidential Search Committee has reconvened, and candidate interviews are expected to begin soon. Additional information about the committee, including member bios, is available on the Presidential Search website.

During last year’s search, we received significant feedback through a universitywide survey and multiple listening sessions. That input helped identify institutional priorities, desired leadership attributes, and key challenges and opportunities for the university’s next president. These themes continue to inform the leadership profile used by the Board of Regents and our search firm in the recruitment and selection process.

We will continue to provide updates as the search progresses.

Sincerely,

University of Michigan Board of Regents
