University of Michigan Seal

The University of Michigan Seal is a trademark of the University, and its use is primarily limited to presidential and regental applications. General questions regarding the commercial use of any of the University’s registered trademarks, including the block M, should be directed to umlogos@umich.edu. The answers to many questions can also be found on the University's Identity Guidelines website.

University units may use the Seal for official purposes on letterhead and business cards if they are already doing so; units are strongly encouraged to use the U-M “wordmark” for new letterhead and business card orders.

The Bentley Historical Library has created a Website documenting the history of the seal.
