Memoirs & Memorials

Retirement memoirs/memorials from the department and all supporting material are due to the Office of the Vice President and Secretary of the University by 5:00 p.m. on the deadlines listed below. Please submit a MS Word draft version of the memoir/memorial, a PDF version of the faculty member's C.V., and a PDF version of the approved termination workflow to The submitted draft provides the working framework for the final version and will be reviewed for length, style, accuracy, and clarity.

Retirement memoirs should be submitted to the Office of the Vice President for approval at the Regents' meeting closest to date of the retirement as possible. (For example, if a faculty member is retiring on June 30th, the memoir should be submitted by the deadline of May 6th to be approved at the Regents' June 16th meeting.)

Faculty members must be eligible for emeritus status (SPG 201.80) and emeritus status cannot be granted prior to the date of full retirement (Regents' Bylaw 5.19). Please contact your human resources representatives to confirm this information and for assistance regarding the correct way to process faculty retirements before submitting a retirement memoir to the Office of the Vice President and Secretary.
