Regent Darlow, a Democrat from Ann Arbor, received a B.A. degree from Vassar College in 1963 and a J.D. degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1971. Prior to becoming a Regent, she practiced law for 33 years with Dickinson Wright PLLC in Detroit, where she focused on international and domestic business transactions and corporate governance, and for two years with Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett LLP in Novi, where she focused on nonprofit organizations.

Regent Darlow has served in leadership positions on many for profit and nonprofit governing boards and on the founding boards of several institutions serving women and girls. She served as president of the State Bar of Michigan (the first woman elected to this position), as chair of the board of Hutzel Women's Hospital and on the boards and executive committees of the Detroit Medical Center and Marygrove College. She also served on the Michigan Bilateral Trade Team for Germany, on the State Officers' Compensation Commission, and on the International Women's Forum Global Affairs Committee. Among her current positions, she is a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Board of Directors and the Detroit Bar Foundation Board of Trustees.

She was elected to the Board of Regents in 2006. Her term expires January 1, 2015.
